Steady Strokes minigame in RentRivals

A rhythm-swimming game — stroke on the green for speed.

How Steady Strokes works

A marker sweeps back and forth across a timing bar with a green zone in the middle. Each time you tap as the marker crosses the green, your swimmer takes a strong stroke and gains distance. Perfect timing swims farthest.

Controls

Tap the STROKE! button (or space) as the marker passes through the green zone. Mistimed taps still stroke, but weaker.

Scoring & how to win

You're scored on metres swum over the round. Clean, green-zone strokes cover the most distance, so consistent timing — not frantic tapping — racks up the metres. Most metres wins.

Common mistakes to avoid

Beating the CPU rivals

When you play Steady Strokes between rounds or in the Arcade, the computer players compete at the difficulty set for your match — from Rookie up to Ace. Easier bots make loose, mistimed plays you can beat with basic execution, while the hardest bots play tight and consistent, so you'll need clean timing to out-score them. In a live game it's the humans who usually decide the round, so a calm, practiced run is your edge.

Where Steady Strokes fits in RentRivals

Steady Strokes is one of the quick minigames that fires between rounds of a RentRivals match — the whole table plays the same game at once, and the winner banks a $20 in-game bonus that can fund the next big purchase. You can also practice Steady Strokes any time, solo against three CPUs, in the Minigame Arcade from the main menu — no board, no room, no stakes.

FAQ

Does tapping faster swim farther?

No — only strokes timed in the green zone give you full distance. A steady, well-timed rhythm beats rapid mistimed tapping.

What's a good distance?

It depends on the round, but consistently hitting the green each pass will out-swim opponents who tap randomly.
