A one-shot stopping test — halt your sprinter on the line.
Your sprinter accelerates down the track entirely on their own, getting faster as they go. You get a single press to stop them, and you're scored on how close they freeze to the finish line.
One press only — the STOP! button, click, or space bar. You get exactly one chance per round, so make it count.
You're scored on how close to the finish line you stop. Because the runner speeds up, stopping short is usually safer than blowing past. Closest to the line wins.
When you play Freeze Frame between rounds or in the Arcade, the computer players compete at the difficulty set for your match — from Rookie up to Ace. Easier bots make loose, mistimed plays you can beat with basic execution, while the hardest bots play tight and consistent, so you'll need clean timing to out-score them. In a live game it's the humans who usually decide the round, so a calm, practiced run is your edge.
Freeze Frame is one of the quick minigames that fires between rounds of a RentRivals match — the whole table plays the same game at once, and the winner banks a $20 in-game bonus that can fund the next big purchase. You can also practice Freeze Frame any time, solo against three CPUs, in the Minigame Arcade from the main menu — no board, no room, no stakes.
The sprinter accelerates, so pressing exactly as they reach the line lands late. Aim slightly early to account for the momentum.
No — a single press per round. That's what makes the timing so tense; one clean stop near the line wins it.
