A basketball timing test — all rhythm, no aim.
A hoop slides left and right across the top of the court on a fixed rhythm. Below it your basketball waits. Each time you shoot, the ball rises toward wherever the hoop is at that moment, so the whole game is about firing at the instant the hoop is lined up over the center.
One input — tap the SHOOT! button, click, or press the space bar. There's no aiming; timing is everything.
You have 8 seconds, and every clean basket adds one to your total. The player with the most baskets when the buzzer sounds wins the round and the $20 bonus. Because the window is short, a smooth cadence matters more than any single lucky shot.
When you play Buzzer Beater between rounds or in the Arcade, the computer players compete at the difficulty set for your match — from Rookie up to Ace. Easier bots make loose, mistimed plays you can beat with basic execution, while the hardest bots play tight and consistent, so you'll need clean timing to out-score them. In a live game it's the humans who usually decide the round, so a calm, practiced run is your edge.
Buzzer Beater is one of the quick minigames that fires between rounds of a RentRivals match — the whole table plays the same game at once, and the winner banks a $20 in-game bonus that can fund the next big purchase. You can also practice Buzzer Beater any time, solo against three CPUs, in the Minigame Arcade from the main menu — no board, no room, no stakes.
Pure skill — the hoop's path is predictable, so a player who reads the rhythm will out-score a random tapper almost every time.
It varies with the hoop speed, but stringing together a basket on most passes will beat the field; a few clean makes in 8 seconds is competitive.
